| Downtown is the heart of Rio where colonial Rio meets modern skyscrapers. Passing through Rio Branco Avenue, you will see the Our Lady of Candelaria Church and the Opera House (Teatro Municipal). Continuing on, view Rio's 18th century aqueduct. At Flamengo Park you will board a cable car that slowly climbs 1,200 feet to the top of Sugar Loaf. You will pass through the Tijuca Forest. Board the cogwheel railway, climbing 2,400 feet to the monument Christ the Redeemer on top of Corcovado mountain, where you will have a 360 degree view of Rio de Janeiro and its harbor. On your way back you'll pass the world famous Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon Beach. |
